RAMPSI Produces 20 Hours of Training Material for Carenet Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Conjunction with The American Association of Christian Counselors

R. A. M. Production Services, Inc. is completing 20 hours of video training for Care Net Crisis pregnancy Centers.  The work is being done in association with The American Association of Christian Counselors in Forest, Virginia.  The series was shot in high definition at Care Net’s office in Ashburn, VA with three Sony EX-3 cameras, switched live through a Blackmagic Design ATEM switcher and recorded to an AJA KiPro.  Recording the switched presentations along with all three camera isos is enabling a quick turn-around in the edit suite.  The presenter’s PowerPoint presentations, added in post, were originally recorded to DVD with sync audio to insure the editor put them in the correct spot.

One of the challenges of the shot was managing the enormous amount of digital information.  During the 5-day shoot, presenters were scheduled every two hours.  Between recording sessions, the crew had approximately 20 minutes to download media from the three cameras and the KiPro and insure it transferred correctly.  To accomplish the transfers with confidence, three Mac laptops were rented and brought in, along with the company’s MacPro computer.  This was actually less expensive than purchasing enough media to hold a full day’s work of HD recording and transferring the footage at night.  All the footage was transferred to a 20-TB Drobo S and edited in Final Cut 7.

Another interesting aspect of the project was that all the approvers were out of town.  So instead of mailing review DVD’s around the country, a private YouTube channel was set-up for client reviews.  To speed up the upload time, we paid for a few months of Cox’s highest speed internet service.

Crew members were Ray Milograno – Producer and Editor, Lang Atwater - Lighting and Technical Director, Jonathan Milograno – Camera operator and Media Management Assistant.
